This Lovely Life

A poem about the blessing of growing old – for those in my life who now have the wisdom that comes with age… I love you with all my heart <3 To grow old is to be blessed, because after a life of good and bad stress… You may say that you lived – that you survived – all the lows and the highs, when days were short and nights were long, but also when months were a blur and years a song. And in this life, you met many people – some you loved and some you forgot. You had many experiences – some worth it and some not. Maybe you traveled to many places, or maybe you stayed closer to home. Regardless, you wore many faces, yet everyone one of them was your own. You loved and you lost as you came to know both joy and grief. You learned which things were worth the cost and those that were best to avoid and leave. Maybe you had many loves, maybe you had just one or a few… whether they didn’t last or stayed forever, each one taught you something new. You learned to accept change after resisting it over and over again, then you finally found that time was to blame, and moving with the current was the only way to win. And so once you were young, but your youth has since faded - It is only part of being human to later realize how that time was so sacred. Now you are entering the latter part of your journey on this Earth, and I hope you look back with laughter, and find that all of it was worth all the trauma and pain, all the tears that ran down your cheeks… Because without loss, there was no gain and the comeback was always sweet. So I hope you reflect and remember all the days when the sun shined, all the moments of pure bliss, all that you gave to this lovely life.
