So I Drive

when I get mad I'm so destructive it's not about you - trust me it's just that I give a shit (or maybe two or three) about what you just did and the way that it ended. I'll smash glass on the driveway, I'll break any lamps in my violent flare, and then I'll take the highway to the Flint Hills or God knows where. I'll drive with the windows down and play my music to a tune that makes me swear that I'm never coming back - I don't wanna deal with all of that. So I drive and I drive, across the rolling hills where the birds fly and the land cries for the silence of the still. And I think about the fact that I don't ever wanna subtract the words I said when I was off track. So I drive and I drive, through this land I call home where the grass sways and the cows graze it's the music of being alone. When I get down I lay in bed feeling sad and feeling numb I think about everything I've ever said and how it all just sounds so dumb. So I'll lay there for days in my melancholic haze waiting for a morning when I will finally raise myself out of this pitiful phase. then one day I get up, So I drive and I drive across this landlocked state passing through the golden planes that I tell myself I hate - where there exists no clean slate. So, I drive and I drive through this never changing town - where I always feel down, the tears rolling down my cheeks feeling confused and more weak. So I drive and I drive looking out my window as I cry I pray to god I'll see a sign as I search for words I'll never find.
